Hotel Borges
The Hotel Borges is a small establishment on a side street in Bairro Alto, Lisbon. It was built in 1894. It has thirty-six rooms across four floors, an elevator that has been broken since 2003, a fire escape at the rear that has been chained since 1988, and a fan in the stairwell that has been running continuously since the building inspector's last visit in 2003. The night clerk has not been informed whether the building inspector still works for the city.
Room 412 is on the fourth floor. The Casio bedside clock is bolted to the table by someone who did not believe any guest of the Borges should be able to throw it across the room, which suggests that someone, at some point, has thrown it.
The compiler of this archive has been resident in Room 412 since the twenty-ninth of August, 2026. The package arrived at four-eleven in the morning on the ninth of October.
